Internship Feedback

"My communication internship with Life Springs Resources under the supervision of Kristi Cain has been a road of experiences, lessons and challenges. I have gained an immeasurable amount of experience through this opportunity.

"Through this internship, I had the opportunity to write stories for the Faith Café curriculum, edit, script write and work on the set of the Faith Café television shoot. The aspect of the internship where I learned the most would definitely be my experience at the Faith Café shoot in Nashville. Through this experience, I learned about the entire process of producing a television program, including pre-production of script writing, scheduling a shoot and coordinating travel arrangements to the shoot to production of set preparation, filming and guest interaction, as well as post-production of editing. My responsibilities while at the shoot included script revisions, serving as script supervisor and meta data supervisor. The majority of people do not realize what is necessary to create a television show, as I did not until this experience. I was able to comprehend more accurately the process as a whole after this trip.

"These lessons are not ones that can be as thoroughly covered in a classroom setting, and to be accurately learned must be experienced firsthand, not through a textbook."

-Lauren Peeples, Spring/Summer 2008 Intern, LifeSprings Resources, Editorial Assistant

"Even though I have been hired as editorial assistant now, I believe there will still be room for an intern in the editing department as well. I now firmly believe editing experience will be valuable in any communication field, just as writing ability and experience is.

"In addition to the opportunities for experience, LifeSprings was just a great place to work. It has a nice, family sort of atmosphere. Interns are treated with respect and even given a generous monetary gift afterward."

-Sara Ray, Summer 2007 Intern, LifeSprings Resources, Editorial Assistant

"A comment that I would like to end on is how much of an influential book that Roaring Lambs played during my internship. The combination of the two [book and internship] could not have work together any better.

"I finished my internship and the book with a new perspective on the working world and Christ. I re-evaluated how the two should work together and how they can help each other. I really understand that work and Christ can be integrated. When used together, it can benefit each other well."

-Diana Robinson, Summer 2007 Intern, Jackson County (Georgia) Parks & Recreation Department

"Going into reading this book, my mind was already set that it was just reading I had to do for my internship, like any other class. I didn’t expect to get anything out of reading this book because I usually never get anything out of reading books like this.

"When I began reading the first chapter, I thought to my self that this book won’t be different from any other book I’ve read from the Christian genre.

"I was wrong. The third page of Chapter One was when I realized that this book just might be different, and I might get something out of reading it."

-Allyson Ohashi, Fall 2006 Intern, EC Student Life

"She is doing very well. She has been very helpful. Her design work is really good. I'm about to give her more design projects to work on.  Always on time, and has a good attitude. She has been a blessing!"

-Jenna Nicholson, Director of Student Activities, EC Student Life (August 2006)

“Honestly, there is nothing I would change about CM402. I was able to complete my hours without the stress of ‘busy work.’  I benefited from reading the book assigned and doing the timesheets. Having to do a reflection paper for each chapter of the book (which I enjoyed) served as a type of discussion between Mrs. Dixon and myself, which helped considering I was three hours away in Columbus , Georgia.

"The timesheet was also important in that it helped me keep up with my hours and the tasks that I was completing. It showed me the time and effort that I put into the internship.”

-Else Seifu, Summer 2006 Intern, Chamber of Commerce, Columbus , Ga.

"Dear Paula Dixon,

Else has done a great job at the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce. She has worked hard on a broad range of projects. I wanted her to see the diversity of the work we produce. I hope she is as good a student as she has been working here. She has a very sharp mind and can think her way through projects.

"She should have clippings of releases she has done and other items to show from her internship. It has been my pleasure to have her this summer.

   "Have a great day!"

- Michael Dunbar, Sr. VP Public Relations-MIS, Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce (Summer 2006)

“I am very thankful EC’s Communication Department requires an internship course for its Communication majors. In fact, I believe it is one of the department’s greatest strengths. When I began my internship doing layout and design for Dancing With Trees, LLC, a recreational tree climbing business, I felt equipped with classroom knowledge and a proper work ethic.

"In the end, I learned lessons I could not have learned in the classroom and applied classroom knowledge while working on projects.”

-Megan Williams, Spring 2006 Intern, Dancing with Trees, LLC
